This guide is here to provide you with several tips and tricks to enhance your proficiency in utilizing the new Avatar Mythics introduced in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2.
Last week marked the highly anticipated collaboration with Avatar, bringing the full set of powers into Fortnite: Firebending, Waterbending, Earthbending, and Airbending. While using these abilities may appear straightforward at first glance, there are hidden mechanics that many players are unaware of.
Uncovering these nuances may require a combination of luck, research, and trial and error. In this article, we will delve into everything you need to know to master the new Avatar Mythics, unlocking your full potential as an Avatar in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2.
Every Avatar Mythic in Fortnite: Tips & Tricks
Before delving into each Mythic ability, it's essential for you to understand how to locate it. While every Avatar Mythic can be found as part of the regular Fortnite loot—scattered across the ground, inside chests, and from Supply Drones—they can also be obtained from their respective altars. These altars are typically found within their corresponding Elemental Shrines, of which there are eight scattered throughout the game.

Interestingly, these altars can appear randomly across the map. We've encountered different altars within houses and other loot-rich areas, though they may not appear in subsequent games. They are identifiable on the map by an Elemental symbol associated with the altar. So, keep a vigilant eye on your minimap, and if you notice one of the four power symbols, it indicates the presence of an altar nearby.
Firebending Mythic
The Firebending Mythic falls short of expectations, as its main purpose is to primarily serve as a damage-dealing tool without much additional utility. Personally, I find the Chain of Hades more preferable. Firebending lacks the thematic element of setting objects ablaze, and its attacks often miss their mark, resulting in a somewhat clunky feel.

However, similar to the other Mythics, Firebending does offer a useful function: fall damage negation. Activating the Aim Down Sights (ADS) button while airborne triggers the Kick animation, effectively preventing any fall damage.
Waterbending Mythic
While the Waterbending Mythic is renowned for its remarkable range, capable of hitting targets up to 280 meters away without projectile trajectory drop, its healing capability is often overlooked. When submerged in water, this Mythic allows you to restore 5 health points with each tick, a feature that extends even to the green river within the underworld.

Pro tip: We highly recommend using this, even if you possess alternative healing items, as it provides a cost-free means to reach full health swiftly.
It's worth noting, however, that this restorative ability ceases to function when subjected to storm damage. Therefore, if ensnared by the storm, swift escape is recommended, or resort to traditional healing items such as bandages, healing kits, and patch-up services.
Earthbending Mythic
The Earthbending Mythic offers a blend of offensive and defensive capabilities, making it a versatile tool in battles. While its primary function deals a substantial 85 damage per hit, its effectiveness is hampered by significant projectile drop and slow boulder travel time. However, its utility extends beyond mere damage-dealing.
One notable application is the ability to effectively demolish structures, with each boulder inflicting 300 structure damage. This feature enables swift dismantling of enemy bunkers and walls, providing opportunities for strategic advantage. Moreover, the Stone Wall ability instantly obliterates any building wall or enemy structure, facilitating tactical maneuvering.

Additionally, the Stone Wall can be employed to launch nearby players into the air, a tactic especially potent when utilized from elevated positions like flying islands or mountain peaks, potentially causing opponents to succumb to fall damage.
Pro tip: Leverage the Earthbending Mythic effectively by utilizing the Stone Wall animation to mitigate fall damage. By pressing the Aim Down Sights (ADS) button while airborne, players can trigger the animation, effectively nullifying any potential fall damage.
Airbending Mythic
The Airbending Mythic stands out as one of Fortnite's most exhilarating and versatile mobility tools. It offers two distinct methods of preventing fall damage: when in driving mode, fall damage is automatically negated; alternatively, while airborne, players can execute a double jump using the Aim Down Sights (ADS) button just before landing to nullify fall damage.
Moreover, the Airbending Mythic enables gliding over water while in driving mode, enhancing traversal capabilities. However, it's worth noting that traversing the green river in the Underworld will not grant the three dashes unless players exit driving mode.
Epic Games The Airbending Mythic
Pro Tip: The Airbending Mythic synergizes with various movement speed increase items found in the game, such as the Banana of The Gods, the Zeus Medallion, and Flowberries. Utilizing any of these items enhances speed and jump height while in driving mode, augmenting overall mobility.
For a truly immersive experience like that of Aang from Avatar, you can enter rifts while using the Airbending Mythic. This action teleports them high into the air without exiting driving mode, facilitating swift and extensive travel reminiscent of flying.
With this, we conclude our guide on tips and tricks for each Avatar Mythic in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2. Remember, you can avoid fall damage by using the ADS button with all Mythics except for Waterbending.
