Why you'll love this recipe

This easy peach salsa recipe is evidence that fruit AND vegetables can live happily ever after in one bowl. It literally disappears almost as fast as you serve it, especially next to a bowl of guacamole!

You are going to love this recipe during summer when you have loads of fresh peaches. It's the perfect salsa for fish like this grilled salmon or cod, and takes these grilled chicken tacos over the top!

What we love about this recipe

  • The ingredients are fresh and never processed.
  • NO added sugar and you control the sodium, unlike packaged salsa.
  • Peach and tomato salsa tastes less acidic than traditional tomato pico de gallo because of the added fruit.
  • Interchangeable with my mango salsa ... just swap peaches for mangoes and add avocados.
  • Diet-friendly for vegan, gluten-free, paleo, Whole 30, and keto.
  • Enjoy this salsa as an appetizer or condiment for your favorite proteins.
  • Great way to use a lot of ripe summer peaches at once.
  • It’s so easy to make and requires NO cooking aka salsa fresca.
  • You boost quality AND save money by making your own salsa.

Ingredient notes

  • fresh peaches - I don't recommend canned or frozen peaches for this recipe. Fresh peaches during peach season is the way to go!
  • tomatoes - any tomatoes can work during summer season, otherwise use bell peppers.
  • fresh cilantro and fresh lime - these ingredients give this salsa classic Mexican flavors.
  • jalapenos - I recommend fresh jalapenos (not pickled) for authentic flavor.
  • fresh garlic - make sure you chop or grate this very finely.
  • salt and pepper - These essentials tie all of the flavors together.

How to make peach salsa

  1. Rinse the surface of peaches and tomatoes under cool water and allow to dry.
  2. Cut the peaches in half and remove pits. If the peach peels slip off easily, go with it. Otherwise, I leave them in tact for color and nutrients.
  3. Dice peaches and tomatoes into ¼-inch or ½-inch chunks.
  4. Finely chop or mince cilantro, jalapeno, and garlic.
  5. Zest and juice the lime.
  6. Gently toss everything together in one bowl, cover and refrigerate.

How to serve fruit salsa

Serve peach salsa with tortilla chips as a scrumptious appetizer or scoop it over your favorite protein for a seasonal, summer treat!

Peach salsa recipe FAQ's

How do I select peaches for peach salsa?

Ripe peaches are best for this recipe. To gauge ripeness, gently press your finger into the surface of peaches. If they indent easily, they're perfect for making salsa.

Do I have to cook peaches for peach salsa?

No. This recipe uses ripe, fresh peaches.

Do I need to peel peaches for peach salsa?

It's not necessary to peel peaches for this recipe, but it's a matter of personal preference. Keep in mind that the riper peaches are, the easier they are to peel by simply puling the skin away.

How do I keep peaches from turning brown?

The lime juice in this salsa recipe will help prevent browning as long as the ingredients are combined immediatly after the peaches are diced.

Can this recipe be canned? If so, how long do you recommend putting into hot water bath for? Thanks in advance.

Hiya! Since this peach salsa is not cooked, it is not meant for canning. I recommend searching for recipes specific to that method 🙂

Beautiful combo of colors and power-packed with fresh, bright flavors . Peaches stayed perfect color without browning because of the lime juice. Made ahead and used to top seared ahi steaks.

Can I can this salsa and use it as a gift for a later date?

    • The Kitchen Girl says

Hi Dorie, this peach salsa recipe is served fresh and I don't have canning instructions for it. Sorry about that 🙁

  10. Wanda says

Hi! Thanks for the recipe! If I were to blanch the peaches and tomatoes, can this recipe be doubled (or more) and canned using a hot bath?

    Reply

    • The Kitchen Girl says

Hi Wanda, you're so welcome! To answer your question...I have canned peaches on their own but never as a salsa, so I can't really advise best practices. I would start with 'canning fruit salsa' as a search phrase. Hope that helps
