what are some of your favourite things about breastfeeding? i’ve dealt with some struggles my LO is 4 weeks old so i’m hoping around 6 weeks my supply regulates but it’s hard mentally some days and would love to hear the things that get you through hard times!

You're not alone mama!
It does get easier after 6 weeks, my LO is 7 months now and while we had latch/nipple troubles in the first weeks I am really glad to have stuck with BF.
I love the close connection, knowing that I can comfort him so easily. I love the cuddle time and knowing that antibodies will be provided from the nipple if he gets sick.
I love not having to do extra dish washing!! lol

As of today, I'm 6 months in with my first baby. I love how easy it is to feed her where ever, whenever. I also am someone who has struggled with body image issues and have never been one who felt comfortable being nude around others, but I feel so much more confident in my body and what it is capable of. I've breastfed in some very beautiful and special places over the last 6 months too, memories I'll cherish forever.

you know, a month ago I would have said it’s just the convenience factor (not having to make up bottles or wash them), and often I felt like a cow ��

But then my LO had a nursing strike and I was in tears. I did my best to articulate to myself just why I was upset, but couldn’t really.

Just like eating healthy while pregnant, I love being able to provide for and comfort him. Sure it is super convenient still, but it’s definitely more than being a cow.

I love that my baby gets to decide how much nutrition he needs. I don't have to worry about how many oz/ml he needs for the most part ( I do have to pump and send bottles for daycare). Also agree with what others have noted- it's convenient to feed wherever, I don't have to wash bottles, I'm able to provide comfort, and it's a beautiful connection with him. Knowing what I do now, I wouldn't have worried so much in the beginning. He knows what he's doing.

My absolute favourite part of breastfeeding is watching my babies little eyes look up at me during a feed… especially after she’s been fussy. It’s 100% her “comfort” item lol

One of the best things is definitely when I’m nursing and she pops off to look at me and smile.

It also makes me feel more comfortable and less stressed taking her out in the world knowing breastfeeding is providing her extra protection.

Being able to go anywhere and easily feed her.

Just how amazing it is that you can feed your baby this perfect food and watching them grow and flourish is so awesome.

My first 5-6 weeks were SO HARD. I spent so much time crying and struggling and not sleeping but I’m at 14 weeks now and it’s really easy right now and has been for a while. I know it will probably be hard again sometimes but it’s definitely worth it.

It's that special bonding time that only I can give my little boy. He can have a cuddle with Daddy, he's had bottles from granny but only mummy can give him "mummy dudhdu." I totally get why you're finding it a struggle because I did too but we got over all the hurdles I'm now finally ready to wean at nearly 25 months.
I think the thing that absolutely sealed the deal for me was when he finally cracked that morning feed and I no longer had to go downstairs and make his bottle and pump at 5am. Being able to just roll onto my side and stick a boob in his mouth saved my sanity.

The connection is my favorite part. It’s a special bond with LO that no one will ever have.

Don’t give up. Breastfeeding is hard in the beginning. I made milestones to help me get through it. For example, I am going to do it for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year.

I am currently 16 months in and don’t plan on stopping til 2 years which is crazy because it was hard in the beginning.

You’re so right. I had a lot of trouble with my 1st and kept going as much as I could. With my 2nd I had my challenges but it wasbetter and now I’m not sure when I’ll stop. It’s calming for both of us. Protective when I think of those nasty viruses going around. Every drop is powerful protection.
